My unit is an attempt to use some of my newly acquired, personal knowledge from my most recent trip to Germany (June 2002) to interest students in German culture. I include my own photography from the trip in the PowerPoint presentation and focus on the small town where 12 of my students and I stayed for a week-long home stay. Hopefully, my excitement from the recent trip and first-hand experience from the time spent in this area will give the students a more personal feel to the subject matter. The website from the Naabtal-Realschule is the school my students and I attended for the week, and many of my older students who were in this town will be good sources of information for the younger students investigating it. Another motive behind this unit is to encourage these younger students to seriously consider participating in a trip to Germany themselves in two years. |
