The remainder of the students and chaperones travel from Minneapolis to Frankfurt.  The entire group joins up at the airport and then drives to Rüdesheim for a Rhein river cruise to St. Goarshausen.

June 16:

We drive to Heidelberg for a tour of the old castle and Weinfaß, as well as have some time to explore the old part of the city.

June 17:

Traveling to Switzerland by bus takes us to the Rheinfalls in Schaffhausen, Luzern to see the medieval Chapel Bridge and Löwendenkmal, and then on to our hotel in Wilderswil.

June 18:

After taking a cogwheel train up the side of the mountain, we ride a gondola to the Kleine Scheidegg and then  hike through the beautiful Swiss Alps to Männlichen.

June 19:

On our way to Austria we travel through the Füssen area of Germany, visiting Neuschwanstein and the Wieskirche.  We stay in beautiful Reutte overnight.

June 20:

On our way to Salzburg, we swing back to Linderhof in Germany, a second castle of Ludwig.  We take a foot tour through Salzburg, the "Sound of Music" city, with options to see the Mozart house and do some shopping.  In the evening we take the funicular to the Festung, the old fortress at the top of the mountain.

June 21:

Arriving in Munich, we stop at the Olympic Park, where the 1972 Summer Games were held.  We visit the concentration camp Dachau that evening before we head to the hostel.

June 22:

The highlight of the trip, today we take "Mike's Bike Tours" to view the city.  Because of the extreme heat, the travelers have an opportunity to jump in the Isar, fully clothed, to cool off.  The rest of the day is free to explore the city and then eat together at the Hofbräuhaus in the evening.

June 23:

We travel to Rothenburg by bus and see the medieval city and fortress before driving to Würzburg where we board an overnight train to Berlin.

June 24-26:

Staying in the Tegel area of Berlin, we travel in the metropolitan area exclusively by public transportation, becoming well-versed in S-Bahn and U-Bahn usage.  During our stay, we visit the Checkpoint Charlie Museum, see the remainder of the Berlin Wall, do a walking tour of the historical part of the city, including the Brandenburger Tor and the Reichstag, and have time to shop on the KuDamm before enjoying a farewell dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe.

June 27:

We transfer to the Berlin Tegel Airport for our return flight to the United States.
